The Resorts magnificent array of activities, together with its quality accommodation and wide choice of restaurants and bars, allows guests to design the holiday they want, whether it be a relaxing overnight getaway, a three-day golfing escape, or a longer stay taking in all the region has to offer.
Just 45 kms from Rockhampton, this integrated resort facility is located where an alluring stretch of coral reef coastline meets wetlands and rainforest. The surrounding unspoilt bush and wetlands is home to some of Australia’s most beautiful and rare birdlife and wildlife.
From the Resort’s very own 20 km of pristine beach frontage, guests can enjoy some of the many water sports and beach activities on offer, including sand sailers, catamarans, windsurfing, surf skis, boogie boards, waverunners, land yachts and quadbikes.
Guests can walk, jog or horse ride the entire length of the beach, which looks out towards the cool clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef and tropical islands of the neighbouring Keppel Island Group. Or for those who prefer to laze around soaking up the sunshine with a refreshing cocktail and a soothing poolside massage, the Resort also boasts one of the largest freshwater pools in the South Pacific with heated adjoining beach pool.
The Resort’s world class golfing facilities include two exquisitely crafted and challenging championship golf courses, catering to both low and high handicappers. For the social golfer there is the classic Thomson-Wolveridge course, which is exacting but forgiving, with wide fairways that cut through beautiful native bushland.
The second course, created in 1992 by internationally renowned designer Karl Litten, will test the skills of the most seasoned professional, presenting a real challenge with tight fairways and plenty of scenic walks for the wayward shot.
Other facilities include an activities centre and gymnasium, lawn bowls, tennis, guided horse riding tours, archery, massage and beauty centre.
Staff at the resort can also arrange island cruises, scenic flights over the Great Barrier Reef and a variety of half and full-day tours to regional attractions including Dreamtime Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre, Koorana Crocodile Farm, the famous Capricorn Caves and more.
Rydges Capricorn Resort offers an international standard of service for all visitors through the harmonious blending of first class amenities with the natural wonders of a unique environment. The Resort comprises three buildings surrounding a large freshwater swimming pool with adjoining heated beach pool.
