Seaplane flights of the Great Barrier Reef

For over 27 years Air Whitsunday has been carrying in excess of 10,000 passengers a year to the Great Barrier Reef for snorkelling and coral viewing adventures.

We have earned the reputation as the most experienced and the best in our field. We operate a fleet of five amphibious De Havilland Beaver seaplanes known for their reliability and longevity.

These aircraft, passionately referred to by the industry as " The Immortal Beaver", are being developed further by Air Whitsunday with the installation of the Advanced Wing, a new wing design allowing an increase in payload of 50% and a new cabin configuration. Air Whitsunday's Pilots are among the most experienced in their field. With an impeccable safety record Air Whitsunday has the enviable reputation as one of the best. Our combined experience exceeds 50,000 hours in operating seaplanes and training other seaplane operators in this specialised skill.

Panorama
Approximately 4 hours For a complete experience fly in our modern de Havilland Beaver seaplanes over the Whitsunday Islands to the Great Barrier Reef. See the world famous Heart Reef and land inside the reef for a once in a lifetime experience. Spend approximately two hours snorkelling and coral viewing inside our protected lagoons, only accessible by seaplane. Your tour also includes a stop at Whitehaven Beach, an area of extraordinary beauty known for its incredibly white silica sand. Cool off in the aqua waters and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this National Park paradise. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel and camera. Champagne picnics are available and are recommended due to the tour duration.

Seaplane Transfers
Seaplane transfers are available to/from land or water from the following ports:

• Hamilton Island • Daydream Island.

We can carry a maximum of 6 passengers plus luggage.

Reef Adventure
Approx 3 hours Fly in the safety and comfort of our de Havilland Beaver seaplanes to the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy panoramic views of the Whitsunday Islands, Whitehaven Beach and Heart Reef, discovered by us in 1975. Splash down at the reef and discover an amazing underwater world. Coral viewing from our purpose built subs, snorkelling and full tuition provided. Soak up the sun in the company of small groups avoiding several hundred people at other reef facilities. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel and camera. You can combine the Reef Adventure with a Hayman Island trip if you wish and enjoy the savings.

Hayman Island Day Trip
Approx 7 hours Indulge in the exotic and sample one of The Leading Hotels of the World for a day. Flights depart most mornings for Hayman Island, where the full use of the resort awaits you. Your tour price includes a prepaid luncheon voucher for use in the Beach Pavilion, Coffee House or Pool Bar, plus use of all non-motorised watersports. Anchorage and Island Pickups
All of our tours are available from your island or boat anchorage at a small additional charge. Contact your tour desk or charter operator to arrange a spectacular experience normally only reserved for the rich and famous.
